Included with your puppy: - 6 weeks free pet insurance - 2kg of dry food - pup toy or blanket - vet booklet - puppy information booklet
Getting your puppy home: We can help organise transportation of your puppy, we recommend using road transporters to get your puppy home.
Behavior and socialisation: Your pup needs to have had its second vaccination and then wait 2 weeks for this to be effective before taking your pup into public places. It is important that you teach your puppy how to be alone early on, especially for when you go out for the day. You can slowly build up the time that they are left alone and reward them for quiet/good behavior. Routines are great for your puppy as it provides structure when potty training or teaching them commands. It is important to start teaching your pup at a young age to sit before it gets invited up onto a seat or lap, sitting before feeding or getting a pat/treat. Proper training even at a young age pays off in the long run.
Home environment: Introducing your puppy to their new home can be stressful for them as it is the first big change in their lives. We recommend letting them sleep with their toy or blanket provided in their puppy pack for a few days as familiar smells can help them to relax. When toilet training our puppies, we first start by using a puppy pad with fake grass inside before they learn to use a doggy door and go outside into their grass yard to go to the bathroom.
Diet: We recommend feeding Advanced puppy for large breeds, but any well-balanced, highly digestible dry food that is formulated for growth will be good for your puppy. The amount you feed on your puppy is dependent on their age and growth spurts. Young puppies need to be fed twice a day but as they get older can be swapped to once a day. You will receive a 2kg pack of dry food in your puppy pack. Always make sure your pup has access to clean water at all times. We recommend that you introduce the new food to your puppy gradually over a week in order to keep their stomach settled. When you first get your puppy home they may initially go of their food, but don't worry this is normal, the new environment may cause anxiety or be too interesting for your puppy to want to eat. Raw meaty bones such as Lamb or Beef are good for your pup to chew on to develop their jaw muscles and help with teeth care. Do not feed raw hide bones or pigs ears, small pieces of these can get trapped in your dog’s throat and restrict their breathing. We recommend checking out this website for a list of foods and plants that are harmful to dogs: Poisonous and Harmful Foods for Dogs | Purina
Health: Every one of our dogs are DNA tested in order to ensure we are breeding the healthiest of puppies. All of our puppies receive their 6-week vaccines before leaving us but it's essential that you get your dog vaccinations and boosters to protect them from infectious diseases. Date on when they are due will be in your puppy pack and vet booklet. We recommend Advocate and Drontal (Dogs Archives - Drontal) for the treatment of fleas, and all stages of intestinal worms. It is recommended to clean your dog's ears weekly and trim their nails monthly, you can clean your dog's wrinkles with baby wipes (or a soft cloth), dry with a tissue and apply Curash baby Powder (zinc & corn starch) to keep the moisture away. Heat stress can be fatal to dogs whether it is caused by the weather or running around, puppies can be increasingly susceptible as they can be very active and want to keep up with their family. Providing shade, a fan, even air conditioning, cool clean water, and ice cubes on hot days, are great ways of keeping their temp down. Bulldogs also love paddle pools to play in, and of course the air con. When traveling in the car it is best that your dog has access to well ventilated area and the air con especially on hot summer days. When it comes to Heat stress prevention is always better than cure.
Exercise: It is important to not walk your dog in the heat or humidity, as overheating can be fatal. Bulldogs still need exercise to develop muscle and keep them happy and healthy.
DNA:
All our breeding dogs are DNA tested for the knowledge of breeding healthy dogs. All pups are tested to prove the parentage for each pup.
